We perform all aspects of general dentistry and also refer to dental specialists for more complex procedures. Some of the procedures we perform are listed below.
Crowns, Bridges and Veneers
Crowns, bridges and veneers are recommended to a patient when they have had extensive tooth damage or loss.
When a tooth breaks, chips or decays in a way that compromises the strength of that tooth, a crown is often the best way to save the tooth and strengthen it. A crown is designed to sit over the top of a tooth, covering it completely. We offer both porcelain crowns (tooth coloured), as well as gold crowns.
When a tooth is extracted or missing a bridge can be a great option of replacing those missing teeth. The bridge is an artificial tooth which is anchored on to the natural teeth either side of the missing tooth by crowns.
A veneer is a porcelain covering that sits over the front surface of a tooth. Veneers are used for cosmetic dentistry to change the shape and colour of a tooth and improve a smile.
Dentistry for Children
We recommend that you start bringing your child in when they are two years old. We are very gentle and take the time to explain oral health to them to help create healthy teeth throughout their life. We will make their first experience to the dentist fun by welcoming them to our ‘Kids Corner’ where they can play with toys or draw a picture to put on our wall. We then introduce them to the dentist and give them a ride in the dental chair, and they will receive a special present when they leave.
We make every effort to preserve or restore your existing teeth. However in some cases, full or partial dentures are a viable option to replace lost or missing teeth and still achieve a beautiful smile. Well-fitting dentures improve chewing ability and speech but also provide support for your facial muscles and jaw. We offer both acrylic and metal dentures.
Endodontic Treatment (Root Canal)
A severely infected tooth and/or broken tooth may be saved from extraction by having a root canal treatment. The root canal can become infected due to decay, fracture or tooth injury. During Root canal treatment the infected nerve is removed and the canal is cleaned, sterilised and sealed to protect it from further infection and the need to extract.
Certain foods and drinks , along with natural aging, prescribed medications and smoking are all contributing factors to tooth discoloration. This is why we offer tooth whitening to help create a smile your confident to wear. We recommend a ‘Take Home Whitening Kit’ which consists of getting a set of custom made trays created and taking home tubes of our bleaching gel. At home, you then need to apply the bleaching gel into your trays and wear them for a specified amount of time. The process generally takes 1-2 weeks depending on the shade you want to achieve.
1. Composite fillings: Are generally used to restore decayed areas in teeth, however, they can also be used for cosmetic enhancements of your smile by reshaping disfigured teeth or changing your tooth’s colour. Composite is the most commonly used filling material in the dental industry today.
2. Porcelain inlay/ onlay fillings: Are often used to restore a decayed or broken tooth when composite material won’t be strong enough to support a tooth’s structure. They are created in a dental laboratory, making them very strong and durable and are also matched perfectly to the shade of your teeth.
Protecting your teeth when playing a contact sport is essential, and a mouthguard that is professionally molded to your own mouth shape can be your best protection. Custom made mouthguards won't slip or fall out of your mouth unlike those bought from chemists or supermarkets and will provide your teeth with the highest protection from injury.
Do you grind your teeth during the day or when you’re sleeping? If so, you might be grinding down the enamel on your teeth! This is why we recommend splints to certain patients to wear at night as they are a great way to protect your teeth from the damage caused by grinding.
Sleep Apnea Appliances
If snoring, excessive daytime sleepiness or pauses in breathing while sleeping affect you, a Sleep Apnea Appliance might benefit you! We assess your case and determine what level of treatment would be needed. If you have a mild case we are able to create a Sleep Apnea Appliance for you, where we take impressions of your teeth and mouth and send them away to a lab to create your appliance. Note; we treat mild cases only.
